PenAgain Ergo-Sof Ball Pen

£8.95 (ex. VAT)

The PenAgain Ergo-Sof takes the grip out of writing.

Its patented wishbone design cradles your index finger, so the natural weight of your hand provides the pressure needed to write, rather than your grip. Same three fingers, same writing style, just without the tight squeeze that can leave your hand aching.

Its soft-touch coating adds another layer of comfort, making the PenAgain particularly useful for people who find gripping a conventional pen uncomfortable, including those living with carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI, arthritis, Parkinson’s, Raynaud’s, fibromyalgia or writer’s cramp. It’s also a great choice for schoolchildren, encouraging a more relaxed grip while they’re developing their writing habits and helping to reduce hand fatigue during longer periods of handwriting.

An award-winning design, nominated by the Smithsonian Institution for its reinvention of the pen.

Shopping for a team?

For millennia, writing instruments have followed the same principle: hold a stick between your fingers and grip it tightly enough to control it. It’s such a familiar design that we rarely stop to think about whether there might be another way. The PenAgain designers asked a rather obvious question: does a pen actually have to work that way?

Its wishbone-shaped design cradles your index finger, using the natural weight of your hand to generate the pressure needed to write. You still use the same three fingers you always have, but now the pen is holding onto you, rather than you gripping the pen.

The result is less gripping force and reduced hand fatigue. For people who find holding a conventional pen uncomfortable or difficult because of carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI, arthritis, Parkinson’s, Raynaud’s, fibromyalgia or writer’s cramp, that simple change can make writing considerably more comfortable.

For schoolchildren, the benefits start early. Long periods of handwriting can be tiring, particularly when a child has developed the habit of holding a pen too tightly. By requiring less gripping force, the PenAgain promotes a more relaxed way of writing, helping young hands stay comfortable through lessons, homework and exams.

The PenAgain takes that comfort a step further with a soft-touch coating that cushions the fingers during longer periods of writing.

It’s a refreshingly low-tech fix. No batteries, no gadgetry, just a rethink of the relationship between hand and pen.

It’s shaped like a wishbone. The ergonomics, however, are anything but wishful thinking.
