The New OE – A Legacy Evolved

Beyond the Chair: The Story Behind Our New Identity

When Lucy West stepped into her father’s office after his unexpected passing in May 2024, she wasn’t looking for symbols—just continuity. Ian West—and before him co-founder Matt Oliver—had built a company rooted in competence, care, and quiet trust. But as she began reviewing the systems he’d left behind and spoke with directors and staff, one thing became increasingly clear: the work had outgrown the way it was being described.

For nearly two decades, Online Ergonomics had been driven by a philosophy that ergonomics is about improving lives, not just furnishing spaces. But as Lucy took the reins as CEO, she realised something important: what the company offers and how people perceive it are two different stories.

Today, that gap closes as we introduce our evolution from Online Ergonomics to OE Group.

Lucy West

A Revelation, Not a Reinvention

Lucy West was 26 when she found herself at the helm of a company known for its practicality and decades of earned trust. Stepping into her father’s role wasn’t part of the plan—and certainly not part of hers. But when the moment came, she rolled up her sleeves and did what Online Ergonomics had always done best: listened, learned, and got to work.

I didn’t have a five-year plan to become CEO,” she laughs. “But once I was in it, I realised—this world wasn’t foreign to me. I grew up around it. I knew the tone, the values, even the spreadsheets. My job wasn’t to rip it all up and start again. It was to bring out the bits people didn’t always see.

Backed by a seasoned team and driven by fresh energy, Lucy didn’t reinvent Online Ergonomics—she refined it. What emerged wasn’t a new direction, but a clearer, more confident version of what the company has always stood for: a full-service ergonomic partner built on relationships, not transactions.

Why Now? Clarifying Our Value For Partners and Customers

For Mark Rigby, OE Group’s Sales Director and an industry veteran with nearly 30 years of experience, the rebrand isn’t just about changing how the company looks. It’s about making sure partners and customers finally see what Online Ergonomics has really been doing all along.

“Thing is,” he says, in his soft northern lilt, “the workplace isn’t just a desk in an office anymore. It’s your kitchen table. A train seat. The corner of your spare room, if you’re lucky. People are working everywhere—and not all of it’s ideal.” He gives a half-shrug, half-grin. “Our job is to make that work better. Not perfect. Just better. We look at how people move, where they ache, where they’re making do—and then we fix the bits that are getting in their way. That’s the heart of it.”

Mark Rigby

Over the last two decades, OE has built its reputation not just through what it supplies, but through how it supports. Behind the scenes, Mark Rigby and the OE team have helped partners across the UK navigate complex needs with quiet reliability—handling everything from procurement and product selection to delivery, installation, setup, training, and aftercare. It’s a full-spectrum approach that values relationships as much as results.

We’ve never been just a furniture company—and anyone in the trade knows that,” he says. “We’re the team you call when your client’s needs a chair asap, a weird corner space, or a deadline you needed to hit yesterday. That’s the level we’ve always worked at. It just wasn’t shouted about.

We are trusted by our dealer partners across the industry, to uphold their standards and deliver on their behalf. That is the job we love to do. Whether it’s managing assessments, coordinating deliveries and setup, or just getting the right chair gets through the door—we back our dealers all the way.

This rebrand—and the new website—finally shows that. It gives us space to do something we’ve never really done before.”

From One Symbol to a Whole System

It started, as these things often do, with a website. The original Online Ergonomics site functioned more as a catalogue than a platform—practical, but limited. There was no clear user journey, no easy way to explore services, and no sense of how all the pieces connected. It was time for an update.

But once the team began working with media consultant Mouna Mounayer and creative agency M&C Saatchi MENA, it quickly became clear: this wasn’t just about improving navigation. It was about articulating identity and telling our story.

We thought a brand was a logo and a colour palette,” Mark says. “Turns out, it’s about showing people who you are, what you stand for, and why they should choose you.

Online Ergonomics Old Logo

The old logos have served Online Ergonomics faithfully for nearly two decades. They were familiar, trusted, and technically accurate. But they told only part of the story. As Mouna and her team dug deeper, it became clear that OE’s real value wasn’t only about products—it was about relationships, insight, and continuity of service.

As part of the rebranding process, M&C Saatchi MENA presented several directions for a new symbol. Some leaned heavily into form, others into motion. But it was the version closest to the infinity symbol that resonated most with Lucy and Mark. It captured something essential: the idea that OE’s work doesn’t begin and end with a sale—it reflects a continuous journey of support and precision.

The new identity reflects that evolution. It speaks to the personalised, ongoing nature of OE Group’s work: adaptable, human, and always in motion.

For years, the chair kind of became the shorthand for what we did,” Lucy says. “But it was never just about the product—it was everything that came with it: the assessments, the setup, the follow-up, the whole experience. The infinity symbol felt like a better fit. It reflects how we work—connected, ongoing, never one-and-done.
